Stop Forever Chemicals from Contaminating Clean Water for People and Wildlife

The Environmental Protection Agency wants to rollback protections against PFAS “forever chemicals”, putting the health of people and wildlife at risk.

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances, also known as “forever chemicals” or PFAS, are produced in industrial facilities across the country and are seeping into our land and waters. Dangerous levels of PFAS have been found in the environment, people, water, and wildlife across the country, with particularly high concentrations found in freshwater fish and waterfowl. These forever chemicals are persistent, bio-accumulative, and toxic—causing human health impacts such as cancer and depleted breeding success in wildlife species.

Tell the Environmental Protection Agency they must protect clean water for people and wildlife from toxic forever chemicals.

Dear Administrator Zeldin,

Do not roll back regulations that protect the health of people and the environment from toxic PFAS forever chemicals as is proposed in rule EPA-HQ-OW-2025-0654.

I am concerned about the health risks caused by PFAS exposure, including linkages to cancer, suppressed immune system response, thyroid  dysfunction, high cholesterol,  and reproductive and developmental harm

Without regulation, over 100 million Americans are exposed to PFAS in their drinking water alone, and communities across the country have already experienced the devastating health and economic impacts of PFAS contamination. In 2024, the EPA took a necessary step forward in protecting Americans from PFAS in their drinking water by establishing science-based drinking water standards for six PFAS chemicals. Rescinding the protective standards for PFHxS, PFNA, GenX, and PFBS leaves millions of people vulnerable to daily exposure to toxic chemicals; regulating only PFOA and PFOS is not sufficient to protect people from the adverse health impacts of PFAS contamination.

PFAS chemicals pose a serious threat to human health and the environment. We are exposed to PFAS in household products, through our agricultural systems, and even through the consumption of wild fish and game, as wildlife across the country has been impacted by PFAS contamination. I urge the EPA to protect us from exposure in our drinking water. Do not roll back protections against forever chemicals as proposed in EPA-HQ-OW-2025-0654.
