Dear Senator,

Farm Bill conservation programs provide important benefits for fish and wildlife, healthy soils, clean water, and thriving rural communities, but they are struggling to keep up with demand. The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), one of the most important Farm Bill programs for wildlife, has long been in need of investments and updates. Since its establishment 40 years ago, CRP has been an important part of the farm safety net and prevented soil erosion on  millions of acres, reduced runoff, and increased wildlife populations.

As you write a new Farm Bill, I urge you to:

●	Ensure that the Conservation Reserve Program is not left behind by providing increased resources to make needed updates and improvements to the program;

●	Provide additional funding and robust staffing for conservation programs to enable farmers and ranchers to adopt much-needed conservation practices on their lands;

●	Ensure conservation programs prioritize conservation practices that remove barriers and improve habitat for migrating wildlife; and

●	Avoid any ‘poison pill’ provisions that would undermine bedrock environmental laws or state authorities.

Thank you for working to pass a bipartisan Farm Bill that benefits America’s producers, rural communities, and all of us who value thriving wildlife, clean water, and a resilient economy.
