Defend Your Right to Have Clean Energy Options in Richland County

Three sandhill cranes in flight

Climate change is creating new challenges for wildlife species that are already struggling, such as the sandhill crane, which is threatened in Ohio and could disappear from the state completely. Extreme weather events linked to climate change, like heat waves and flooding, are raising Ohioans’ energy bills and creating dangerous conditions in communities across the state.

Clean, responsibly developed, and affordable energy is crucial to address climate change and lower energy costs. Renewable energy projects in Richland can lead to long-term benefits for our climate and wildlife, and provide opportunities for family farmers to diversify their income while keeping their land in agriculture.

But the Board of Richland County Commissioners approved a ban on future large-scale solar and wind energy projects, removing decision-making power from landowners who wish to lease their land. Now voters in Richland County have the opportunity to vote NO on the ban to protect private property rights and a clean energy future.

Early voting starts April 7, and election day is May 5. Take the pledge to Vote NO on a ban on large-scale clean energy projects in Richland County!
