Tell Your Community Leaders to Commit to Protecting Monarchs
Both the Eastern and Western monarch populations depend on pockets of monarch habitat in our homes, public spaces, towns, and cities. Since the late 1980s, the Eastern monarch population has declined by more than 80%, and the Western monarch population by over 90%— clear signs that monarchs need our help.
By joining the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge network, your local leaders can steer your community towards projects that protect and create native habitat for these magnificent butterflies and other pollinators, along with programs for local community science, education, and policy change to help them thrive.
In the last 10 years, participating communities have created over 12,100 acres of monarch-friendly, native habitat. Please help your community join in the effort by sending a message to your local leaders encouraging them to take the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge and commit to community actions for monarch conservation.
