Moose and many other species depend on 1.1 million acres of healthy habitat in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for their survival. But those waters are threatened by toxic sulfide-ore copper mining.

Dear Representative/Senator,

I am very disappointed that the administration and some members of Congress want to remove protections for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

These protections were based on sound science that showed the watershed of the Boundary Waters is no place for sulfide-ore copper mining. Hardrock mining uses hazardous pollutants that are harmful to wildlife and people and could permanently ruin the waters and forests of the Boundary Waters.

This unique area is an economic engine for Minnesota, generating $1.1 billion in economic activity and supporting 17,000 jobs. This incredible ecosystem provides habitat for hundreds of species of wildlife and unmatched opportunities for recreation, solitude, and connection to nature.

Please vote against a Congressional Review Act that would remove  protections that safeguard this national treasure, wildlife, and our public lands and waters by banning sulfide-ore mining on approximately a quarter million acres of the Superior National Forest and the minerals within the watershed of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
