Tell Local Leaders to Take the Pledge for Monarchs
Both the Eastern and Western monarch populations depend on local efforts to plant and restore native milkweed and nectar plants at our homes, public spaces, towns, and cities. The Eastern monarch population has declined by 84% in recent years and the Western monarch population has declined more than 95%, clear signs that monarchs need our help.
Your local leaders can help by joining a network of hundreds of U.S. cities and communities that are investing in habitat creation, community science, environmental education, and local policy change to benefit monarch butterflies.
Send a message to your local leaders and encourage them to take the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge and commit to monarch conservation.
Imagine the impact if cities and towns across the U.S. took local action to expand quality monarch habitat across the monarch’s vital breeding areas. We could give monarchs a fighting chance!
