Prevent Polar Bear Habitat from Melting Away
Climate change is causing Arctic temperatures to rise to historic levels, melting the ice floats polar bears rely on to catch the seals that make up the base of their diet.
Polar bears can’t maintain their necessary diet when they are forced onto land, so they are at high risk of starvation and death when they lose their hunting grounds on sea ice. We could lose two-thirds of the world’s polar bear population by 2050 if we don’t act now to stop climate-altering pollution.
Congress has made funding available for every state to invest in their communities and fight the climate crisis - but many of these funding opportunities are still in the process of being distributed.
Tell your state governor and local leaders to use funding from recent federal climate legislation to invest in local built- and natural- climate solutions.
