Say No to Abandoned Oil and Gas Wells

Elk

Congress and the White House just passed historic legislation to reform oil and gas leasing on our public lands. But there is more work to be done.

It’s time to require oil and gas companies to pay to clean up the lands they develop. In addition, oil and gas companies should not be allowed to lease lands that have little potential for development or lands that are important for wildlife. For too long, oil and gas companies have been given priority to develop these lands at the expense of wildlife and our way of life. Reforming the leasing process will restore balance to our public lands, which will benefit wildlife such as elk, deer, bighorn sheep, and many other species.

Please let Congress and the White House know that you applaud the historic reforms that were just signed into law, but that more must be done to modernize how we responsibly develop oil and gas on our public lands.
