The Trump Administration just gutted key National Environmental Policy Act safeguards, threatening wildlife and communities in all 50 states.
The landmark environmental law ensures that the public’s voice and thorough scientific analysis are included when federal agencies make decisions, including on major projects like pipelines. Just this month, a judge ordered the Dakota Access Pipeline—which threatened the health and safety of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe, the Missouri River watershed, and vital habitat for the sandhill crane and other wildlife—to cease operations because the environmental risk to nearby communities and wildlife was not adequately assessed as required by the National Environmental Policy Act.
The White House’s reckless rollback of National Environmental Policy Act protections robs the public of their voice, imperils cherished wildlife, and puts vulnerable communities at further risk of pollution. Tell Congress to oppose these rollbacks today.
