Protect Roseate Spoonbills From Spaceport Construction and Rocket Launch Debris
SpaceX is proposing the busiest spaceport in the world for a remote stretch of wetlands—home to an incredible diversity of birds in Louisiana. The company has purchased 125,000 acres of marsh for a “Starbase,” with an eventual goal of launching dozens of rockets a day.
Putting a development like this in the middle of such an important wildlife area puts roseate spoonbills, other resident and migratory birds, and endangered species like Rice’s whales at risk.
The Federal Aviation Administration is proposing to waive 13 environmental statutes to fast-track this project, including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and Endangered Species Act. Speak up today to tell the Federal Aviation Administration NOT to bypass these important environmental regulations, and to mitigate damage to this important wetland habitat for wildlife.
