Speak Out for a Rare Native Wildflower and the Owyhee Canyonlands

The Packard’s blazing star will bloom soon in the Owyhee Canyonlands, part of a unique ecosystem covering several million acres in southeast Oregon. It is one of an estimated 28 species of native plants found only in the Owyhee and nowhere else in the world.

Habitat loss and direct destruction of plants due to mining development, road construction, and off-road vehicles along with exotic weed invasions and prolonged drought conditions could cause the Packard’s blazing star to disappear forever. Send a message to President Biden in support of permanent protections for the plant communities, wildlife, historic Indigenous sites, and ecological systems of the Owyhee Canyonlands.
